Chocolate No bake recipes

Oreo fudge!

“Everyone needs fudge, Hildy. It’s how God helps us cope.”- Joan Bauer.

It doesn’t get simpler than fudge. No bake , few ingredients , one bowl. I have been thinking of putting on a fudge recipe on here for a while and when one of my baking groups chose  it as the weekly theme , I knew it had to be now.

If you aren’t that crazy about fudge , its cool . I ain’t either . More often than not , its too sweet for my taste. I like this one though. Its rich … RICH! One tiny square is plenty to satisfy your sweet tooth.

This is the cheat’s way of making fudge as it uses condensed milk , doesn’t require thermometers or endless beating. Its fast and fabulous though… exactly how I like my indulgences! Usually , its nuts that are added to chocolate fudge for that textural contrast. But if you have been following the blog ( which I hope you have been !) , you’ll see that I am not exactly nuts about nuts ( sorry, couldn’t resist that!) . One ,  I don’t like nuts myself and two , all the people I bake for  like different kinds of nuts. Some like cashew and some won’t touch it , some love almonds and others cringe at the mention of them , some love walnuts and others…. you get the idea!

But if you like nuts (:-) ), go on and throw some in . Salted nuts would be fab in this fudge. I have used chopped up oreos because .. well, its oreos and I kinda liked the crunch . Plus something about the dark fudge with the bits of white playing peek boo appealed to me . And its oreos!

You’ll need:

  • 200 grams sweetened condensed milk (I used the small tin of Nestle milkmaid)
  • 200 grams dark chocolate , chopped up
  • 28 grams or 2 tablespoons unsalted or salted butter
  • 6-8 oreos

Makes: 16 pieces of 1×1 inch fudge
Time : 10 mins prep + 2-3 hours setting time

Lets get started:

Line a 4 x 4 or 5 x 5 inch square pan with parchment paper.

Chop up your oreos into quarters using a sharp knife. Keep aside.

Heat the condensed milk , butter and chopped chocolate together either in the microwave or in a saucepan . Stir in-between as needed.

When all the butter and chocolate has melted and the mixture is smooth , take off heat and mix in the chopped oreos.

Pour into the lined pan , smooth top and chill for 2 hours or until set. Lift the parchment from pan  and slice into squares!

Also:

  • Double the recipe ( 400 gram or big tin of condensed milk with 1/4 cup butter and 400 grams chocolate) makes enough for an 8 x 8 inch pan.
  • Cut into small pieces as the fudge is really rich.
  • Store in the fridge in an airtight container for 5 days or at room temperature for 3 days.

This fudge is smooth and creamy and a chocolate lover’s heaven. These are perfect make ahead bitesized treats for gifting or parties. Or you know, those days when you just want to stuff your face with chocolates or cookies!

Left over condensed milk ? Try these Brigadeiros for another amazing chocolate treat!
